Caravia Fresh Foods was founded in the spirit of the old country with quality products, familiar friendly service, and authentic food being the guiding ideals. 

Joe Cognetti had recently sold his wholesale produce business and saw a food landscape lacking in personality, distinction, and quality.  He was looking for something different and so after nearly 30 years as a wholesaler he decided to step one notch down the food chain to retail and open a store of his own.  The desired common thread among the myriad of different products was quality.  With this goal as his starting point, he set out.  First, he set up a prepared foods department and ensured that all the food was homemade and from the freshest ingredients possible.  Next, he chose the highest quality and most unique groceries items he could find.  And finally, he leveraged his generations of produce knowledge to make a produce section that has become widely considered the best around for its quality, selection, and organic variety. 

The rest, as they say, is history.  Since then the store has grown and the idea has caught on.  While the store has taken shape during the years, the mainstays of the store are the same; quality food and a friendly shopping experience that is more a pleasure than a chore.
